About Us
Portsmouth Chess Club is a friendly chess club based in inner city Portsmouth. The club was first formed over 100 years ago.
We play in the local Portsmouth and District chess league and have teams in various divisions.
We welcome new members and encourage anyone, regardless of chess experience. Many players started out at Portsmouth as beginners and are now strong club players!
We play on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm at the Royal Naval Old Comrades Club (RNOC Club), 86 Lake Rd, Portsmouth, PO1 4HF. Feel free to drop in, (if the door is locked press the buzzer and say you are there for the chess club).
Lake Road is near to Commercial Road.
(There is usually plenty of opportunity to park in the residential roads surrounding the club and parking is free in the evening).
